BatDave meets the legendary Joe Kubert in June 2011 at Dewey's Comics in historic Madison, NJ. Mr. Kubert was a true class act of the comic book format. He treated every fan like gold that day and autographed countless Kubert classics FREE of charge for the hundreds of loyal fans who were there to celebrate the man and his long career.

I don't mean to be morbid...but I realize now...if any old timers do any shows near me...dont wait...go and see them. Your photos are great souvenirs BatDave.

Hey Batdave, Great to see the photo of you and Joe at the comic store appearance in 2011! I never thought I'd get the chance to meet Joe but I was very lucky to meet him when he appeared as a guest at an Australian convention (Supanova) in 2010. I work for Supanova so I was privileged to have looked after him and his offsider Gabe Bridwell when they came to my hometown (Perth). During his visit to Perth, Joe visited my home and looked through my original comic art collection and I have a photo of a sketch he kindly did in the front of one of his H/C books. Later that year, I caught up with Joe at his school where he presented me with a fabulous illustration of Enemy Ace. I last saw him in 2011 when we caught up for lunch when I again visited the school. I echo your words relating to Joe's kindness, patience and consideration to every fan he met. He was an immense talent who gave so much of himself and I miss him greatly! Thanks!! It's always a real pleasure and an honor to meet a favorite comic book artist or writer. So many great memories are provided by these talented and sometimes overlooked individuals. I regret not making more of an effort to say 'THANK YOU' to the recently departed Carmine Infantino at the many comic cons I used to see him at.
