I have bad feelings about Recreations of original art. Someone's hires the original artist to redo a famous cover or something and now that seems to dilute the value of the true cover, or at least, cause possible confusion when these things go for sale. Anyone agree or dislike recreations? Why bother with them?
@NSNart...I think that is a good idea about distinqiushment marks. You say you have over 20+ cover recreations? Did you actaully request them (which means encourage the artist to enter them into the marketplace) or did you just find and buy them because they were cheaper?
The cover recreations have were all requested by me. But none of them are line for line recreations and can easily be differentiated from the originals. There is no image out there so powerful that if I couldn't own the original I'd want a line for line re-do. But there are plenty I like enough to have other artists do their interpretation of. The basic form and idea is there, s it's the same yet different
